Your Journey Begins Here
NICU Resources for Families
Welcome to a space dedicated to providing essential
support, resources, and comfort for families in the NICU environment.
Have you ever felt rushed and/or overwhelmed in medical situations? If so, I’ve created this one-page “cheat sheet” to help you pause, ask the right questions, and ensure your voice is heard.
Use this tool to help you regain control and make decisions based on clarity rather than chaos.
The Advocate Cheatsheet
During our long stay in the NICU, there were many hours when JoJo was asleep or when I just needed a moment to breathe.
I didn’t want to leave his side, so I would sit beside him and colour or read affirmations. It was in those quiet, rhythmic moments that I began to write JoJo’s Gentle Journey.
I’ve included some colouring and affirmation pages for you to use in those same quiet moments. Whether you are colouring JoJo and Lumi or writing your own prayers for the future, I hope they help you hold onto hope and find a little peace while you wait.

The following charities provide "home away from home" accommodation so you can stay close to your baby when it matters most.
Home Away From Home
If you are feeling overwhelmed or struggling mentally, please reach out to your hospital staff. Many NICUs have licensed Clinical Psychologists and Therapists who are trained to support parents through the trauma and uncertainty of this experience.
You do not have to carry this alone.
Here are a few charities that can help too.

Essential Tips For NICU Families
3 tips to help you get through this period of time.
Understanding Your Baby's Needs

Familiarize yourself with common NICU terminology and your baby's specific conditions. This knowledge will empower you to advocate effectively for your child's care and actively participate in their treatment.

Building a Support Network
Connect with other families and support groups within the NICU. Sharing experiences can provide emotional strength and valuable insights, making your journey less isolating and more manageable during this challenging time.
Prioritize your mental and physical health by engaging in self-care practices. Taking breaks, seeking support, and maintaining a routine can help you cope better with the stresses of the NICU experience.
